Take a quick look at your strings.
If any of them look frayed, they’re probably on the verge of breaking. Even if they’re not visibly worn, a drop in tension is a good reason to think about restringing. When strings lose tension, you lose control and power—your racket just won’t feel the same.
You may find it hard to notice the tension loss, as it drops off over time and with use. You might notice your racket feels kind of “dead” or dull. Maybe you’re swinging harder but not getting much depth, or you’re hitting the ball cleanly but struggling to get it to the back of the court. Even the sound when you make contact can change, which is a subtle sign your strings aren’t performing like they used to.
The general rule of thumb is to get your racket restrung the amount of times you play per week, per year. For example, if you play on average 3 times per week, you should aim to get your racket restrung every 4 months.
Common restringing tensions for Tennis rackets typically fall within the range of 50 to 60 pounds, for Squash and Racketball it’s generally 20 to 30 pounds and for Badminton is 18 to 30 pounds.
The ideal tension can vary depending on a player’s style, level and personal preference. Have a look at our Stringing Guide pages for a full breakdown or drop us an email for a personally recommendation.
Currently not unfortunately. It is something we are looking to provide in the near future. However, if you have an urgent requirement, get in contact and maybe we can still help.
Strings don’t last forever, but some types do hold up better than others. To help you choose the right one, check out our Stringing Guide — it covers how long different strings typically last.
Please note that while we take care in every restring, string breakage can occasionally happen on the first use, especially after a miss hit, frame hit or hitting the wall. It’s rare, but possible and unfortunately not something we can take responsibility for.
Before we start restringing, we carefully inspect each racket to check for any existing damage and to ensure it can handle the requested tension. If we have any concerns about the frame’s condition or suitability for the tension you’ve asked for, we’ll let you know before going ahead.
While it’s very rare, there is always a small risk that a frame could break during restringing. Because of this, all restrings are carried out at the owner’s risk and we’re unable to take responsibility if damage occurs during the process.
How quickly we can restring your racket depends on a few things — like our current availability, whether we have your chosen string in stock and if any extra parts (like grommets or bumpers) are needed.
In most cases, we aim to have your racket ready within a day or two. If you’re in a hurry, we may be able to offer next-day or even same-day service, though please note that express options will come with an additional charge.
